Veteran’s Day is this Saturday, November 11th. With two military bases located closely to the Crystal Coast – Cape Lejeune in Jacksonville and Cherry Point in Havelock -, Veteran’s Day is an important holiday to acknowledge to us. President Wilson proclaimed November 11 of 1919 the first commemoration of Armistice Day in recognition of the victory of World War I and all of those who died in service. An Act was approved on May 13th of 1938 that made November 11th a legal holiday each year to come, which eventually became a day to honor all American veterans of all wars on June 1, 1954.
Check out these events happening this weekend on the Crystal Coast including celebrations of Veteran’s Day.
