It's officially hurricane season and we've already had several storms brewing in the tropics. Although we haven't seen a storm that would directly impact the Crystal Coast yet, there's still potential that we could experience a damaging storm this season. Studies predict that the 2018 hurricane season will develop more storms than years past. It's important to not only be prepared in the event that we do experience a bad storm but to also have the coverage necessary to protect, repair or even replace your assets should they get damaged during hurricane season.

According to National Geographic, hurricanes refer to rotating tropical storms with winds over 74 miles per hour. Hurricanes begin as tropical disturbances that are fed by energy from warm water. Once the storm reaches wind speeds of 38 MPH, it becomes a tropical depression and a tropical storm at 39 MPH. The name hurricane is used when winds reach 74 MPH and are rated from category 1 to 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Here on the Crystal Coast, we have been lucky and spared from devastating hurricanes in the past several years, however we have had our fair share of tough storms. Hurricanes can cause devastation from flooding to power loss, knocked down trees and power lines and a variety of other issues that take a huge amount of time, effort and money to clean up. Should we be in the unfortunate path of a hurricane this season, we can help you prepare and get your assets covered. To learn more about hurricane insurance, give us a call today.
