Claim scenarios can often times be confusing and hard to understand. We will be doing a series of blog posts about questions frequently asked during claims and the general insurance world. Our first blog in this series is about damage due to fallen trees in a storm. When a tree falls on your property during a storm you MAY have coverage for removal and repairs in your wind policy. The key to this situation is if the tree lands on “an appurtenant structure”. This would certainly include your home, but also a swing set in your yard, your driveway, a fence, a shed just to mention a few examples. If it hits nothing but the ground, it is not covered. In either situation, always call the claims department at Chalk & Gibbs and we will be able to advise you. You can also file a claim through our website as well!
