As we approach the end of November, we can be thankful for many things. The holidays are about to flare up in full swing as we place delicious turkeys on our tables and begin decking the halls, but this month also signifies something more.
No Shave November (and it’s various initiatives) is a phenomenon that began as a fun tradition in the United States, but then escalated into a way to raise awareness. Men’s health issues – specifically prostate cancer – is highlighted by this movement, and folks across the country have taken part.
According to the Movember Foundation, the state of men’s health is in crisis. Prostate cancer rates will double within the next 15-20 years, ¾ of suicides are men with poor mental health, and men experience worse long-term health than women. This movement has brought many of these issues to light – although, there is still room for improvement.
One thing you can do to help alleviate hardships in the event of a health crisis either in your own life or someone close to you is to have the insurance side of things squared away. Chalk & Gibbs can help cover you if anything were to happen, as we offer a variety of health and life insurance policies. Also, we are here to help you prepare in case of an unfortunate diagnosis.
While there are just a few more days left in the month of November, it’s never too late to bring awareness to men’s health. In addition to partaking in various No Shave/Movember events and initiatives, give Chalk & Gibbs a call to help build a plan for preparedness. Illness gives little to no heads up and can appear quickly, so help you and your loved ones be prepared.
